Building custom engines requires custom machining! In this case, the Trick Flow Powerport 240 cylinder heads we're using on this build are designed for use with 4.320" bore size and up, but our bore size is 4.255". As such, we have to notch the top of the cylinder bores to gain adequate valve clearance! Check out the entire build series: ua-cam.com/play/PLgKs8wgBcfDwfi9Y2x4EuOMNAv3JN3PEP.html I...

You guys have got to watch the Beastly 383 SBC build.. 601hp on pump gas - street driver Also a 1060hp BBC 632 cid 13.5 compression 105 octane or 87 octane with water injection Sound almost like an electric motor when she winds up on the Dyno. (It’s insane) street driver idles at 800rpm

Nick - you guys did some beautiful work. David Vizard would be pleased:) Remember most of the airflow is in the roof of the port. So this intake needed to be port matched. Could equate to 10 to 20 hp

As a retired chemist for the aluminum industry, I wonder about the origin of the aftermarket piston. There may be no guarantees that af pistons are cast from recycled beer cans. If that were the case the af pistons are nearly pure aluminum lacking alloy ingredients that would improve the wear, strength and heat dissipation properties.

The alternator failed on Dad's 7060 and he took it to a shop. Fellow there was an old timer and knew his stuff. "Ah, a Niehoff, worlds best alternator - and also the most expensive to repair". Awhile later I took the alternator from my MG in there. "Ah, a Lucas. Worlds worst alternator and 2nd most expensive to repair. I'll fix it if you want, but you'd be better off getting a GM model XYZ alternator. It's an exact replacement and you'll never have any trouble with it". I liked that guy, was sorry to hear he passed not too many years after that.

Modern oils easily last that long. If there is a problem with that engine it's not because of the oil, only because it wasn't kept topped off (and therefore run low on pressure)

I use a strobe tachometer to check the belt timing. If one green mark is larger than the other, put the larger mark on the north or west pulley and align the leading edges. Alignment of trailing edges can cause battery voltage issues.
